I used to be a control freak mom and educator, running a tight ship where everything had to be perfect.

Theory is nice, but reality is what matters. Let’s get real.

Becoming a middle school principal changed everything, including how I parent.

  • I went from lecturing to asking,
  • I went from controlling to connecting.
  • My kids became independent = more time & less stress for everyone.
  • They learned to make decisions based on logic, not just emotions.
  • By 8th grade, they were doing things my college freshman couldn’t.

Our relationship grew into one of trust, respect, and humor.

Working with tweens for three decades and raising my tweens invited me to grow too.

When my daughter started high school and said, “You need to teach other moms—my friends aren’t getting this,” I knew I had to help others see the incredible opportunity middle school offers.

Raising middle schoolers is messy, but it’s also beautiful.

Let’s do middle school together.
