Time for mother-daughter adventures can disappear when life is busy, and it is that time of the year when every mom thinks, “What can I get my daughter that will not be thrown on the floor or lost?” Give the gift of adventure. From a “Girl’s Yes Day” to swinging from a trapeze, challenge yourselves to learn something new and spend quality time together.

When our girls reach puberty, their confidence begins to decline. Although it is part of the process, learning something new together is a great way to bond, laugh, and thoroughly enjoy each other’s company. You can always make more money, but time cannot be made up. Here are some ideas to get you started on mother-daughter activities or trips that will allow you to spend quality time and connect with your daughter in a fun and memorable experience.

Trapeze class with your daughter

Imagine flying through the air with the greatest of ease. If you are up for it, this is guaranteed to be a hit. Flying the trapeze makes both people who do it and people who watch it feel more involved, more like a team, and closer to each other right away! There are trapeze places in many major cities and it is for anyone from age 7 and up.

Many places offer 2-hour workshops.  Gather several groups of moms and daughters to make a day out of it!

MAKERSPACE FOR MOM AND DAUGHTERS

What is a makerspace?

A makerspace is a place where people can work together to make, learn, explore, and share things. It can be in a school, library, or a separate public or private building. There are 3D printers, laser cutters, CNC machines, soldering irons, and even sewing machines in these spaces. They are open to kids, adults, and entrepreneurs. At the heart of a makerspace is the maker mindset of making something out of nothing and following your own interests. These places also help those who need to learn important science, technology, engineering, and math skills for the 21st century (STEM).

Open a world of creative exploration with this idea. Spend time exploring a variety of interests in classes that will challenge you to think, create, and make something with your daughter.  This could be one night weekly where you both discover new tools, technology, and a group of new friends.

Rock climbing (indoor/outdoor): Get your mother-daughter climb on

Find a local rock climbing gym.  Moms and daughters can learn to boulder together. Bouldering is a type of climbing that keeps you close to the ground and doesn’t use ropes. Many rock climbing gyms also offer bouldering, (which requires you to learn some extra rope skills). Since the walls are shorter, it doesn’t take as much stamina, especially for routes for beginners.

Glamping/camping: A mother-daughter trip for all interests

If camping is not your style, then this mother-daughter trip might surprise you.  Glamping is luxury camping. All of these perks make glamping a great way to spend a vacation for many people.

Cabins for camping have a bed, a roof, and walls. No need for a tent or air mattress.

Treehouses are fun for people of all ages. Modern tree houses are a great way to enjoy nature in a beautiful way. The view from camping in a fancy tree house is amazing.

Yurts are round tents that are completely enclosed and are popular in Asia. Some yurts have real beds, electricity, and running water.

Silks class

The graceful art of aerial silks can be performed by anyone, regardless of dance experience. Silks are two long pieces of soft fabric that hang from a single point. They are also called aerial fabric. Students will learn basic climbs, locks, hangs, inversions, and wraps that are suited to their skill level and level of fitness, with a focus on safety and the right way to do things. This mother-and-daughter activity will give you a boost of confidence as you swing and sway through the air.

Bungee Class Time! A Mom and Daughter Experience

Participants wear a harness that is attached to a bungee cord that hangs from the ceiling of the gym. You can jump, do yoga poses, run in place, dance, do pushups, lunges, and fly around the room while the bungee holds your weight . Although your feet are still on the ground, your weight is lifted, and you rebound.  30 minutes is all you need for a fun and thrilling time of bonding to create a memorable moment.

Surfing Class

You can choose a day or a week but a surf day is a great way to challenge yourselves and learn something new. If you and your daughter are super active, this might be a great day to consider. Surf schools offer camps for families, groups, or individuals. You can sign up for a day lesson or sign up for several.

Forget about a quick TikTok dance and try this mother-daughter activity. This will be fun and you are guaranteed to laugh together for a whole hour. It is another way to play while spending quality time together.

ATV’s/Go Karts with Mom and Daughter

Your first ATV ride brings excitement, fun, and questions. What should you expect? Knowledge can make your travel safer, more pleasurable, and less stressful. Teachers will show you how to ride and operate an ATV. This teaches riding basics and vehicle handling. Before riders may ride alone, instructors will review their fundamentals. Every place is different but fun, laughter, and learning will be involved.

Big City Living: Explore a New City As Mother and Daughter

Exploring a new city together gives your daughter more than just a cultural experience.   Learning to navigate and problem-solve through a new city is an incredible skill to have. Nonetheless, she will now know how to get around on public transportation, how to avoid danger, and how to keep herself safe in a big city thanks to these experiences you have together. Yes” Day designed for Your Daughter

Ask her what she would want to do together and how she would want to spend a day.   Spending time together is most important. If you are always saying, “no,”  a reasonable yes day can be anything you want. You could do a spa day, play your favorite board games, go on a road trip, or visit your local animal shelter to volunteer together.

I urge you to attempt planning a mother-daughter holiday with your tween or adolescent daughter, even though it can seem difficult or impossible. A day trip or shared experience is a good place to start. Do you need additional ideas? What about taking a cooking lesson, visiting a TV or movie set, taking a trip with a food theme, going to a sporting event, or seeing a musical? These trips are great for all ages and can even become an annual tradition as most cities have so much to offer and interests change as your daughter gets older.

Visit a national park to see a great view or visiting a new city gives you a chance to explore together and share new experiences. Go horseback riding, visit a new ice cream shop, or plan an hour getaway that can add value and connection to your relationship.
